My acne was manageable in adolescence. But, in the early twenties (early 1980s), I began to see "adult" acne. He was much deeper in the skin and hurt to the touch. It would also take several days to heal against one or two. I decided to go to a dermatologist. She even put me on desquam-x (topical benzoyl peroxide prescription strength) and tetracycline. This protocol worked for a year. Then I had a bad outbreak. The medicine I used did not make any difference. The dermatologist has doubled my tetracycline dosage. My skin is still not improved.
I therefore began to examine what had caused acne. I found this amazing book entitled "Clear Skin" by Kenneth L. Flandermeyer MD. I have not seen it in print for some time. But, you can sometimes find it at used book retailers and Amazon.
It is interesting to note that this book was written about three decades ago. And, the information that it contained was not known by most people. Today, the acne process and the way to interrupt it are quite well known. In addition, there are a number of products on the market that are specifically designed to cleanse your skin and limit or eliminate future outbreaks of acne.
What I wish you to understand, is that you do not need to pay a lot of money to clean your skin and control your acne. If you want to try to spend less, the challenge may be to correctly classify the oily nature of your skin, to identify the good cleaning power and the frequency of washes. For me, I have to use the full strength cleaner twice a day to properly break the type of oil that forms on my face. This diet would cause too much irritation for those who do not have thick skin and oil. The active ingredients of the cleaner are 2% sulfur and 2% salicylic acid. These ingredients are in Sebulex which is technically a medicated dandruff shampoo. This product can be ordered from Internet pharmacies.
We are all trying to control our cost of living. And, every cost, big or small, is added. A bottle of Sebulex costs around $ 12. Even using all its strength, this bottle will last 6 months. If I buy two at the same time for a year and I have to pay $ 5.00 in shipping and handling fees. That's $ 29.00 a year, $ 2.42 / month or 8 cents / day. If you instead use a product on the other end of the spectrum, like Proactiv, assuming you receive a monthly shipment and that $ 19.99 plus $ 5 plus shipping and handling fees, this would be about $ 19.99 + 5 = 24.99 months x 12 = 299.88 / year or 82 cents a day. It is 10 times more money!
Your choices for getting and keeping your skin clean are better than ever. Keep in mind that you can do it for pennies a day if you wish!
