An essential aspect of interpreting the true meaning of this film is its many references to Exodus 8: 2 of the Bible. The most obvious reference was in the scene just before the start of the quiz show. The Lord spoke to Moses: Go to Pharaoh, and say unto him, saith the Lord, let my people go, that they may serve me.

And if you refuse to let them go, here I am, I'm going to hit all the borders with frogs

Another important piece of the puzzle comes from Dixon, the young boy who raped Jim after the discovery of the murders. What follows is an excerpt from Dixon's rap:

Check this ego, come on, I am the prophet,

You live to grow old with a flea on your shoulder.

He flees the devil, but the debt continues to grow,

When the sun does not work, the good God brings rain.

Dixon is called the "prophet", but he could be interpreted as an extension of god. He takes Jim's weapon after his loss, but during the frog shower, the weapon falls from the sky with the frogs – a sign that the boy had some control over the events.

The second and third lines of rap are warning Jim that he lives to go higher ("to age"), yet something weighs him down. Dixon tells Jim that what he's doing is not right and warns him to stop. However, Jim does not listen to the rapper, just as the Egyptian pharaoh did not listen to Moses. This message is not only meant for Jim, but it also symbolizes injustice in the lives of all other characters. The last line indicates that if God is ignored, he will rain.

It is important to note that the characters admit all their wrongs but do not seem to be able to overcome them. Claudia, for example, is addicted to cocaine but can not do anything to stop. Linda feels guilty of having cheated Earl and tries to take away the name of his will, but can not do it, and even Earl takes advantage of his last breath to admit that he has been mistreated. his son and his wife and pleads for Frank's forgiveness but he does not receive any.

The rain of frogs means that God wakes everyone up. The rain of frogs – the extremely strange, almost absurd situation – was a way for God to tell everyone that he had done wrong and sin. However, the shower is his message that he constantly watches over the world and can intervene to help when necessary. After the rain of frogs, the characters seem to either make peace with their problems and have succeeded or, in the example of Jimmy Gator's death, have failed. This shows that even though God is there to help, not everything is always working perfectly and there are always those who are punished instead of being saved. the most discussed subject in the world of cinema. Accept my interpretation at your own discretion and form your own opinions on the matter, which is most likely the intention of the writer P. T. Anderson.
