What do you get a 10 year old boy for Christmas?
What are his interests?
By the age of ten, a child would have roughly a strong opinion of what he wants. He can be totally crazy about Pokemon, or basketball with the hope of joining the school team.
At this age, what his peers think of him is important. He would like to be with the crowd. To have what cool kids at school have. Maybe a cell phone or an MP3 player. Or the super yo-yo. Or whatever the current craze at school.
What he likes is not necessarily what his father loved when he was ten years old. Dad may have liked Lego and Star Wars sets when he was ten years old. If you are asking today for a ten year old child who he would like a lightsaber or something Star Wars for Christmas, he is likely to give you a blank look.
The in-thing now that my ten years and his pals are crazy about are nerve guns.
Boys love guns The toy guns or whatever they can shoot with, or fight with will go well with the boys. But parents may not like such gifts. Especially if the kids end up breaking up and antique vase or something as expensive at home, while playing with these Christmas presents.
Parents would be much happier if you offered them practical gifts. Like clothes. Or pajamas.
At this age, boys are particularly disappointed when they unpack the gift, to discover that there is a new set of pajamas or clothing or stationery . Boring. Without that boy likes to dress and you have come to choose an outfit that he absolutely likes. If you know the tastes and sizes of boys perfectly and he is the kind who likes to dress, then get him some clothes. Otherwise, get a safer gift.
Is the boy playing sports?
If he likes football, basketball or basketball, does he like to play or watch?
If he has a favorite team, a gift that features his team or his favorite player would be well received. If he likes the game, give him new equipment.
Associate the gift to the boy's interest and he will be welcome when he will open your Christmas present.
