It saddens me that there are so many women who feel terrible towards themselves.
It's so bad in some cases that these women actually hate certain parts of their bodies.
So what exactly is the body image and what can we do about it?
Body image is the way we perceive our own body and the way we absorb others also perceives us.
But here is the truth about body image – it's not based on facts – it's based on our perception, our imagination and our emotions.
This is not static, but constantly changing, being sensitive to our mood, our environment and our physical experiences. It's psychological in nature, something we're learning, not something we're born with.
Often, we forget the fluidity of our body image, treating it as a solid part of ourselves, and when we do that, we become sensitive to the show lathes commonly described by the media as 'solutions'.
Weight Loss Pills.
"Celebrity endorsed" diets. (Often, when women and girls experience a poor image of self, they turn to diet as a solution.)
All attempts to shorten us to feel better about ourselves and our body.
But here is the thing, our image of self is mainly carried out and directly related to our self-confidence.
It's only when we look outside of ourselves, at other people for validation, that we start to suffer from low self-esteem.
In short, we let others determine our state, our self-confidence and our body image.
I have friends who, at one time or another, have been concerned about their weight. A few extra pounds make them feel bad about themselves. All this comes from believing that dangerously thin is normal.
If you want to be healthy, it's fantastic, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take care of yourself, my goal is to choose your body image, do not let a standard be dictated to you.
Work on your self-confidence. Give yourself the power and confidence to feel good, even if you do not fit the norm.
The attractiveness is not only physical, it is also the heart, the mind and the soul.
So take care of yourself, believe in yourself, start to love yourself for who you are, do not see what you are not.
Do this, and your body image will improve.
