Yes! there is a big, great difference in the way we pack for the holidays compared to a quick business trip. I am not an exception. I spend a lot of time mapping daily impending holidays because I want to be ready for every opportunity or activity possible (with good behavior and shoes of course …). So, as you can imagine, I show up at the airport with lots of luggage for the holidays. When I make a quick business trip, that 's another story.
With the hassles associated with airport baggage, I just can not do it. As a result, when I travel for a short time, I strictly adhere to the rule of two hand luggage that airlines have for us all. Yes, ladies, I know maths: it's a purse and carry-on that can be mounted first in the luggage compartment. And as we head towards the summer, there are additional challenges, as I recalled a recent 72-hour trip in the melting-brain tropical climate.
So, here are my five golden rules to keep it together road:
Rule Number 1:
Select clothes without folds or almost without folds that you can rotate inward and to the outside for a night look. The last thing you want to do on the road is ironing, not to mention the quality of the irons that you will find in hotels … I prefer silk, cotton blends, and linen because of the quality of the iron. they mimic you natural even after a 5 hour flight or a sticky Miami wet day …
Rule # 2:
Stay hydrated both inside and out. outside, literally. I can not stress enough how important it is to drink a lot of water during the trip. Believe me, I know how easy it is to forget and give up the bottle of water and indulge in coffee and ahhh! these cute mixed drinks covered with paper umbrellas. Apart from all the health implications, dehydration is the worst enemy of your skin. I always keep a gentleman's face (a travel size of less than 3 oz) and a bottle of water with me at all times and I use both generously while traveling.
Rule Number 3:
Have good makeup with you at all times. In Los Angeles, we are fortunate to have a nice temperature throughout the year, so it is easy to underestimate the importance of proper makeup on wet days. and very wet. On my recent trip under such adverse conditions, I put to the test a mark that I was asked to revise – MAKE a company of New York specializes in paraben-free products and donates 10% of sales We See Beauty Foundation which supports cooperative enterprises run by women and workers across the Americas. How cool is it!
But back to makeup and beauty stuff … I do not use foundation and boy! Was I happy in Miami? I have a very clear and translucent skin, so all the foundations look like a cake and look like masks. After years of research and testing, I finally gave up and I start with a moisturizing day cream and contouring quality instead of foundation. If you use foundations, however, on a hot, humid day, resist the temptation: do not force, but inflate the sweat for a more natural and matte look that suits the environment. I've tried two MAKE products – their Taffy Lipstick and Alabaster Eyeshadow (you can see more about them and the actual photos on my blog, if you're interested)
The Taffy has a purplish red color and contains antioxidant vitamins. , soybean and safflower oils. I do not like glossy lipstick, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how it remained lasting and effective during the day. My daughter tried it too and the color was different on her, much more pure. So, if you want to get close to the color of the product as it appears in the shell, you can try to apply the powder on your lips before application.
Everything and everything DOES made impressive, so it's worth a try. I keep the alabaster eyeshadow in my clear travel bag (on which the TSA insists) with all other 3 oz or less of lifebuoys for the road. If you want to try one of their products, you can get 20% off – Discount Code: MAKEYOURSELF.
Rule Number 4:
You must have a sunscreen tube in your travel pouch. Summer is the time when we are heading to tropical and sunny places and chances are you are not used to this kind of sun. Even in cloudy and windy weather, you burn at a crisp. Finding a good sunscreen is a challenge. These days, I opted for the very emollient mineral sunscreen SPF 30 from Alba Botanical. As with other mineral sunscreens, the application is a challenge, but it is effective and does not contain parabens, phthalates or synthetic fragrances. Indulge yourself and stop at your pedicure manicure salon before all your travels. You see, on the road, we want to be comfortable (whatever that means for you, I live in care, so the flip flops are not in my arsenal) and 9 out of 10 that would result in your choice open-toed shoes. Do not ruin a perfect exit because you are bothered by your "little piggy" … you get my drift.
Well, Happy Journey Girls –
