How to clean and repair your oscillating fan


When cleaning the fan, you will need the following:

-a screwdriver to open the fan

-detergent and lukewarm water to clean it

– dry cloth or towel to wipe the rest of the water

Not really a lot of things, right? Well, that's an added benefit of oscillating fans: they are really easy to open and clean. An oscillating fan cools more air than an ordinary fan, which makes it more likely to get dirty faster and more often. This is why its design should allow easy cleaning.

So the first thing to do to clean the fan safely is to unplug it from the electricity. After that, wipe off the surface dust from the fan. When you have done this, you can start disassembling it. Remove the grill by unscrewing the screws that hold it together. Some grilles are not equipped with crews, but the clips make the process easier. Remove the blades by removing the screws that hold them attached to the fan. Now you can use a detergent to clean the grill and the blades. Be very careful with this because you do not want electrical components to get wet. After that, use a dry towel or cloth to dry the washed parts. Before reassembly, the grill and the blades must remain a few minutes to dry a little more. This way, you will avoid hurting yourself or your fan. Reassemble the fan in the reverse order in which the parts have been removed. Screw in all the screws firmly, plug it in and test it. Your clean and crisp fan should now work perfectly, the ticking has probably gone and the air is better because you have prevented accumulated dust from spilling into the room.

– Also inspect the gear and motor housing. Try to tighten them. If you can, then everything should be good. But if they can not be tightened, it means that they are worn out and you have to replace them. Once they are tight or replaced, lubricate the shaft and reassemble your fan.
