Interior Design of House – Five Common Mistakes

Whenever people think about interior design, they will think about hiring an interior architect. Hiring a professional can be very expensive, but now you can easily turn your home into the house of your dreams on a minimum budget. But to do this, you must avoid these five common mistakes in interior design:

1. More than one room

It is important that you measure the size of the room you want to furnish before buying furniture. People tend to buy furniture that is too big for the room, which only makes them stuffy and crowded. Try to limit the number of pieces in the room.

2. Hanging works of art too high on the wall

Do not hang paintings or portraits too high, they should be hung at about eye level. But of course, the eye level is different for different people. The general rule is to suspend the work of art at 66 "-72" (165-180 cm) from the ground. If the artwork is large, you can hang it higher, but still in the middle of the wall. If you want to hang a photo above a sofa, the bottom of the frame should be 15-20 cm (6 "-8") on top of the furniture.

3. Disorganization

People often keep things that they do not really use, and sometimes they leave things everywhere in the room. Surely you do not want a piece that looks messy or stuffy. Try to get rid of unwanted or unused items and store the items you want to keep in a box or other storage unit. You will be surprised at how spacious your room can be.

4. Quantity versus quality

When decorating your home, more things do not necessarily mean better. It is important to only get what you absolutely love, and avoid cheap art. It must not be too expensive, but it must be the best you can afford. The works of art or high quality furniture will last longer and will have good resale value if you choose to sell them later.

5. Insufficient lighting

People rarely pay attention to the lighting of a room and they tend to use only one light source. You should use multiple light sources instead. They are not only intended for lighting, but they can also create an atmosphere in a room. You can add a few table lamps in your study to read books or a chandelier in the living room for a luxurious ambience.
