One of the most beloved stories told at Christmas is A Christmas Carol which was written by Charles Dickens in the 1800s. It tells the story of a man who has only been concerned about the fact that he is a child. money and never cultivate friendships with people in his life. Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge, is visited by 3 ghosts who show him different scenes of his past, present and future. One of the scenes is his burial in which no one even witnessed it. After being visited by these ghosts and having watched all these scenes of his life, he is awakened with a new vision of life and realizes the importance of each one in his life.
As Christmas gets closer and closer, take out the story, or the DVD, or even grab the coin. This will remind you, as well as your family, how you can all benefit from the lessons taught in this tale. There are tons of different adaptations of this movie and you can find one that everyone will appreciate. Kids will love the Disney or Muppet version as opposed to the classic black and white that adults could enjoy better.
Although we are not all as rich as Scrooge, this story is an excellent reminder to children and adults of what is important in our lives. Having conversation in the hustle and bustle of life makes us forget what is most important. When bills continue to increase, it seems like we should be spending all our time and energy earning money and not helping others or developing our relationships. This story also reminds us how life can be easier when we have the help of our friends and family to help us along the way and we do not need to be visited by ghosts to learn all this.
