Pools reach a new level of success. They become works of art. For twenty or so years, the operation of the pool has been constantly improved. Technology has helped with pumps, fountains, jets, lighting, filtration systems, covers, automatic cleaning systems. In this sense, swimming pools are now part of a revolution that has occurred.
Normally, when a swimming pool is over, the interior is plain white or plain blue. (A cursory study suggests that this is the case in 90% of cases.)
Add water to a pool lined with white or blue and the interior appears blue. Not an unattractive blue. A brilliant translucent blue. A blue that is reproduced in almost every pool in the world.
There are owners, perhaps a majority, who would like their pools to be different, to make a statement.
shape of the pool. Make it oval, curved, elliptical, L-shaped. Build features – a fountain, a trailing edge. Add a spa, a hot pool, a cold pool.
Another way is to landscape the surrounding gardens. Make the pool appear as if it were part of a natural setting. (Really, this blue pool is still a problem but we'll come back to it later.)
Adding stuff to the surrounds, decking – wood, ceramic – anything nice to the feet but not slippery. Bring the landscape to the pool, ride the pool in places, include the pool in the landscaping.
But the pool itself, the water tank, no matter how it is surrounded, how many functions are added, is not normally an artistic statement. It has no visual appeal apart from appearing to be cool when it is hot.
Is there a way around this? A way to make the inside of the pool an attraction, a form of art in itself. To let the pool make a spectacular artistic statement.
Most customers do not know all the alternatives that exist. Yes, they can change the color of the interior of the pool – although most of them are not. And when it is changed, it is usually changed to another "unique" color. Have the inside of the pool a medium yellow and the water will be green. Better, perhaps, than the blue pool but still a plain, unicolour statement.
Two ways to get around this. One is glass (usually in the form of mosaics) and other ceramics. Both materials are available, applicable and durable. Applied to a pool, they mainly decorate. And, it can be argued, they make maintenance a little easier and extend the durability and life of the pool.
The images that accompany this article show the extent and width of the decoration of the pool. These pools have been decorated using handmade ceramics.
The word in hand is important. For this reason, there are not two identical pools. It's easy to show that when the pools are decorated with handmade ceramics, each of the pools is unique. Nothing really likes it elsewhere in the world. But critical for the owner, the architect, the designer, using handmade ceramics turns the inside of the pool into a large open canvas in which the terrace and the garden around the pool are the frame.
be designed after consultation with the customer, the design of the pool becomes an outward manifestation of the customer's inner aspirations. It's only theirs. Their fingerprint on the landscape in which they live. Their declaration to the world. The portrait of their needs, aspirations, achievements made in the design of the interior of a swimming pool.
There is simply no other way to declare the artistic individuality that is approaching
. canvas on which a client can totally project his own artistic individuality. And then you will realize the inherent possibilities of specially designed ceramic tile pools.
