The bedroom has always been a personal space and the bedroom furniture has always played a vital role in reflecting the character of the owner of the room as well as organizing and keeping their beloved ones . Commonly, traditional styles have maintained as being the most popular; However, as the size of rooms has shrunk in response to changes in society, their popularity has been diminished as these styles are better suited to larger rooms. The dining room, unlike previous rooms, has undergone much less recent changes. It has evolved yet considering however. The evolution of the dining room was aided by the upper classes and the nobility of medieval Britain and Europe. They facilitated the use of small living rooms, decorated with large dining room furniture and works of art to counter the noise of eating in the first big halls. These gained popularity as people began to realize the benefits and therefore more meals were held here, as the room was held for more private discussions and more intimate entertainment. As a result, the larger rooms saw less use and the event were reserved only for special occasions. These living rooms have become known as dining halls as we know them today. The dining room has however retained some of its former prestige, where many will use the dining room for special occasions or larger than normal meals or entertainment, and the dining room furniture is remained long traditional. Today, however, the dining room continues to evolve as social trends change. Unlike the grand lounges of the past, many dining rooms are located closer to the kitchen, some of them becoming open to facilitate meal service due to the inherent lack of servants. This has made its presence felt in the design of dining room furniture as some more contemporary furniture styles emerge, though many tables still adhere to classic rectangular designs that reflect the old hierarchical ways of dining as well as room proportions to traditional eating.
