Wooden floor covering

Is your wood floor already worn? Has he already passed the difficult tests and is now old and pale? It may be time to redo your wooden flooring and give it a new look.

How do you know that it's time to redo the floor? You can do this simple step. Go to the area where the floor is most often used, your living room maybe. Get a tablespoon of water and pour it on the floor. If the water forms beads and can easily be removed, there is no need to redo it. Your floor is still in good condition.

If the water you have just poured slowly seeps into the ground and creates a visible dot, it may already need some touch ups. You might want to keep it in your to-do list and plan a time when you can retouch. However, if the water seeps in as quickly as you paid, do not waste more time. Your floor needs to be re-finished, and soon.

Finishing your wood floor would require equipment such as a drum sander. Other equipment may be needed for other more detailed tasks in the finishing process. However, you do not need to buy these equipments. These amenities are available for rent in your local home stores such as Home Depot. You can rent them on a daily or weekly basis.

Different abrasive papers are used in the drum sander for different types of soils. The lower the abrasive paper number, the rougher it is for use on more damaged woods. Once you have chosen the right abrasive paper, you can now begin to sand the wood with the help of the equipment. It is suggested to do sanding diagonally in both directions and then along the grain.

Once you have finished sanding the entire floor with this procedure, repeat the process using a thinner paper (one with a higher number). After having sanded the entire floor again, you can now sand the edges with the help of a spinning / edging machine.

Vacuuming is the next step to clean up the sand dusts. If there are holes after sanding, fill them with sand dust mixed with varnish to form a paste. Then leave the soil alone for a while.

After a few hours, repeat the sanding process again, this time doing it along the grain with a much finer grain. Do this twice using the largest number of grains on the last sanding. Then, vacuum once more and sweep the sand dust.

Once the soil is free of dust, now is the time to apply the coat. You would need a roller to do it. Before using the roller, make sure it is clean at first using a stiff brush to remove dirt and hairs that might get into the finish.

The urethane coating can now be applied to the grain of the floor by strips. Once the entire series of tapes is complete, return to the starter tape and make sure there are no roll marks or urethane buildup.

Let the first coat dry for a while. When the layer is completely dry, the next step is to sand all the soil with the help of an orbital sander. Vacuum and sweep the floor afterwards to remove the dust.

Finally, the second coating can now be applied using the same procedure as the first one. When making the second coating, make sure the sun does not radiate through the window to avoid uneven marks.

Finishing your wood floor is relatively easy, as long as you have the right equipment. Rent can be a bit expensive but not as expensive as replacing your entire floor. You can even save more to do it yourself than to hire someone to do it for you. Also, would not you be proud to show your work and tell your friends that you did it yourself?

Well finished or finished floors make your home more beautiful. This is also a healthy alternative to carpets. Carpets are known to cause allergies because they are difficult to clean. Having a bare and well-finished wood floor will help you have a healthy environment in your own home. Dust, pests, mold and animal stains can easily be cleaned.
